The Sound of Oklahoma's History

Posted Dec 21, 2010 by Alice Pettit

After deep listening to Aaron Copland's Rodeo, Buckaroo Holiday, students will understand that music may add to and/or change the mood of written words, spoken words, or pictures for the listener or observer. They will also learn that music often tells its own story. Students will match historic photos to the music and learn to listen to music with open minds while visualizing what the music is depicting. Students used the photographs as models for their illustrations. Students selected portions of Copland's Rodeo, Buckaroo Holiday to accompany their pictures in a Power Point presentation.
